THE BRIGHT was an exhibition of my paintings which took place at the Upstairs Gallery Berkhamsted between 8 and 20 October 2018
These are mainly 30 inch by 40 inch canvases, with thin oil paint glazes, applied freehand in geometric patterns. I am investigating the light reflecting qualities and colour mixing of layers of thin glazes.
The compositions are influenced by traditional patchwork designs - I have made many quilts, but the priority is the expression and character of the oil paint and its media. I also study modern abstract art avidly, so am inspired by that work too.
